KARACHI, Feb 16: The PIA, in a timely action, saved the life of a passenger who boarded a flight from Houston, the USA, for Karachi and suffered a heart attack on board after take off from Manchester.

Bawany Abdul Waheed, 65, had boarded PIA flight (PK-720) along with his wife on Monday taking off from Houston airport. The flight arrived at Manchester and later departed on schedule. However, after sometime Mr Bawany suffered a heart attack.

When the flight captain was informed about the passenger's condition, he immediately diverted the aircraft to Istanbul, Turkey.

The PIA handling agent in Istanbul managed the immigration formalities for the ailing passenger and his wife and airport authorities allowed his admission in the International hospital. According to PIA sources, due to the timely provision of medical assistance to Mr Bawany, his condition was stated to be satisfactory. --APP
