HYDERABAD, Feb 16: Municipal workers went on a strike on Wednesday in protest against non-payment of their salary for January. As a result, no work was done at the City taluka municipal administration.
A delegation of workers, led by CBA union president, Ghulam Mohammad Qureshi, general secretary Akram Rajput, and National Labour Federation leader Rana Mehmood Ali Khan, called on DCO Mohammad Hussain Syed.
The DCO was informed that despite the strike, sanitation works were doing their job. The strike will be called off after the salary has beenpaid. The delegation also complained against the attitude of Taluka Nazim Moinuddin Sheikh in this respect.
The DCO told them that salary would be paid on Thursday and urged the workers not to stop sanitation work as it could cause problems in Muharram. He said that a meeting would be held between the nazim and union leaders on February 19 for resolving other problems of the workers.
NAB: The regional office of the complaint and investigation cell of the National Accountability Bureau has started receiving complaints of bribery and malpractice against government officials from people.
The complaints have been forwarded to the Karachi office of the bureau, seeking permission for investigation in to the matters, it is learnt through a NAB source. The formal working of the regional office of the NAB, it was learnt, would begin after a colonel, currently in Karachi, was posted in Hyderabad.
