HYDERABAD, Feb 16: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, on Wednesday sought comments from the provincial additional advocate-general and the city taluka nazim on an application converted into a petition , seeking removal of encroachments from outside the Government Noor Mohammad High School and Civil Hospital Hyderabad.

The matter has been fixed for March 3 and the court ordered that comments must be submitted within 10 days. Petitioner A. B. Channa, chief of an NGO, informed the court that on both sides of the roads in front of the school and hospital, encroachers had occupied footpaths, causing difficulties to patients, their attendants and students. He added that no space had been left there for pedestrians and some children had met with road accidents.

He further said that the school management had sent numerous representations to the nazim and the Sindh chief minister and the medical superintendent of the hospital had also made similar complaints.

He stated that the taluka council had adopted a resolution against encroachments and in the light of it, the taluka municipal administration had got a survey of the encroachments conducted. However, he regretted that the anti-encroachment cell of the TMA and Market police, after taking bribes, were protecting the encroachers.
