ISLAMABAD, Feb 15: Pakistan and Malaysia have expressed the desire to enhance air links and increase the number of flights between the two countries.

The issue was discussed in a meeting between Minister for Defence Rao Sikandar Iqbal and Malaysian Airlines Chairman Dato Dr Mohammad Munir Abdul Majid, here on Tuesday.

The defence minister told the Malaysian delegate that Pakistan attached special significance to its relations with Malaysia and desired to further strengthen its ties in the fields of economy, trade and tourism.

During the meeting, Mr Majid said both sides needed to explore possibilities of enhancing existing frequencies and code sharing arrangements between the national carriers of Pakistan and Malaysia.

It is to be mentioned here that both the countries would hold bilateral air services agreement talks in Kuala Lumpur on March 15-17, so as to enhance the existing operational framework for mutual benefit of both the countries.
