KARACHI: Hamida for quality assurance system


KARACHI, Feb 15: Sindh Education and Literacy Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro stressed the need to develop a mechanism of quality assurance system in the country for achieving the goal of quality education.

She also emphasized on all educational institutions for ensuring the attainment of quality standards both in the private and public sectors with the provision of quality education.

Dr Khuhro was addressing a seminar on "Quality Assurance and Support in Education" organized by the Aga Khan Education Services Pakistan (AKESP) on Tuesday, here at a local hotel.

She said the government was trying its best to provide children a healthy atmosphere with a developed educational system. Referring to the heavy rate of out-of-school children and dropouts after primary education, she said that infrastructure, trained teachers and sustainable reforms were the solution to these problems.

She also called for eliminating gender disparity with regard to provision of educational facilities. Dr Khuhro expressed hope that the AKESP's efforts would prove helpful for the government's recent initiatives of establishing the National Education Assessment System.

Education Secretary Mohammad Hashim Leghari in his address told that the leadership training program for 2000 headmasters/teachers was being launched in the province for which the Euro 39 million were being provided by the European Commission. -PPI
