KARACHI, Feb 15: The inspection team of the Sindh Local Government Commission on Tuesday visited the head office of the city government in connection with the annual inspection.
In a review meeting, held under the chairmanship of the member technical of the commission, M.A. Karim Iqbal, the DCO Karachi, Fazlur Rehman, briefed about details of the city government departments.
The meeting was attended by team members Haji Munawwar Ali Abbasi, Hameed-uz-Zafar and Iqbal Ahsan Zaidi, DG local government commission besides EDOs of all city government departments and other senior officials.
A schedule was finalized for the commission's meetings to be held with the city government departments. Addressing the meeting, Mr Iqbal pointed out that the annual inspection of district governments was the commission's responsibility under the SLGO 2001. He clarified that it was not an inquiry.
The commission, he said would visit all departments of the city government separately, and collect details as per the questionnaire already provided. On the basis of the same, the commission would prepare its proposals, which may prove helpful in improving the local government system. He said these proposals would be sent to the chief minister. - APP
