PESHAWAR: Flag march for security

By Shafiq Ahmad

PESHAWAR, Feb 15: The Pakistan army will hold a flag march on Wednesday in five cities of the NWFP as part of the security plan during Muharram.

Sources told Dawn here on Tuesday that flag march would be held in Peshawar, Abbottabad, Hangu, Kohat and Dera Ismail Khan to maintain peace and harmony among different sects.

In Peshawar, 21 platoons of police and 10 platoons of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) have already been deployed. The FC personnel were working under the police command and their strength would be increased on 9th and 10th of Muharram for Zuljinah and Alam processions, the sources said.

The army would be called in, in case the law and order situation was created in any of these cities which had been declared sensitive, they added.
