LAHORE, Feb 14: The government will fix the quota of plots for overseas Pakistanis in the textile and garments cities to be developed in Lahore and Faisalabad.
Punjab Industries and Commerce Minister Muhammad Ajmal Cheema said this while talking to a delegation of industrialists at his residence here on Monday.
The minister said the decision to reserve the quota of plots had been taken for attracting investment of overseas Pakistanis in the major export-earning textile and garments sectors.
He said that overseas Pakistanis investment in textile and garments sectors would not only help in boosting exports but also create a large number of new job opportunities.
A separate block, he said, had also been reserved for textile sector in the Sundar Industrial Estate being developed in Lahore. A number of industrialists had already expressed interest in setting up their production units there.
He called upon the industrialists to keep on improving the quality of their products for facing the growing competition in the international market after the enforcement of the WTO regulations.
