MMA condemns price hike

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 13: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal legislators have condemned recent increase in prices of petroleum, gas and sugar and demanded repeal of the decision as it will have negative impact on commercial and industrial activities.

At a meeting held at Idarae Noor-i-Haq, MMA MNAs Asadullah Bhutto, Muhammad Hussain Mehanti, Muhammad Laeeq Khan and MPAs Nasrullah Khan Shaji, Yunus Barai, Hameedullah Khan and others reviewed various aspects of the price hike.

The meeting observed that though Gen Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz were claiming continuity of economic progress and promotion of industries in the country, the ground realities of soaring prices were different.

They charged President Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz of pursuing the US agenda and practising IMF and the World Bank dictations, as if they had no concern with the miseries of people.

RELIEF GOODS: The Al-Khidmat Foundation, the social service wing of Jamaat-i-Islami, has announced dispatch of 3,000 blankets and an equal number of cartons of mineral water, as well as 5,000 maunds of wheat flour and other relief material for the victims of storm and rains in Pasni.

Dr Naseem Jafri of the Foundation appealed for generous donations and relief goods for the affected people.
