KARACHI: Commerce curricula not of world standard


KARACHI, Feb 11: The faculty and professionals of commerce subjects have emphasized on the need for bridging the gap between local and international curricula.

This recommendation and some others came up at the academic council meeting of the Commecs Institute of Business and Emerging Sciences (CIBES) held at its campus. The meeting was chaired by the vice-chancellor, University of Karachi, Dr Pirzada Qasim.

The recommendations also brought to light the need for providing practical and professional orientation to learners through value addition and revision of the existing syllabi. A curriculum development workshop for intermediate commerce subject, which was held at the Commecs institute on Jan 29 and 30, also came under discussion.

Working syndicates for subjects of principles of economics, principles of commerce, accounting and banking finalized recommendations, which would be presented to the BIE for shaping curriculum revision for the coming academic sessions. Prof Qaiser Mufti, Zafar Iqbal, Ahsan Saleem, Omer Karim, M Arif Dossal also attended the meeting. - PPI
