KARACHI, Feb 10: The city nazim, Niamatullah Khan, on Thursday, inspected the process of getting fertilizer out of offal of sacrificial animals by the Gulshan-i-Iqbal Town at the proposed site of a park in Gulistan-i-Jauhar.
The Gulshan Iqbal Town had last year buried around 100,000 offal at two different places - one at its landfill site, near Safoora roundabout and another at the proposed site of a park in Gulistan-i-Jauhar - for getting fertilizer out of them.
Briefing the nazim about the process of fertiliser making from the offal, the Nazim Gulshan Iqbal Town, Abdul Wahab, said the town had saved around Rs3 million under the head of fertilizer after the step.
He said the fertilizer made from the offal would now be utilized in 15 parks of the town. He said the town had buried another 100,000 offal this year, expecting a saving of Rs3 million next year as well under the head of fertilizer.
Referring to the town's model park, being developed on seven acres in Gulistan-i-Jauhar, near the Darrus Sehat Hospital (UC No 8), Mr Wahab said the park which would have a pond, children enclosure, etc would be developed by May.
In his brief speech, the nazim, Niamatullah Khan, lauded the Gulshan Town for taking the initiative in making fertilizer from offal.
The ceremony was attended by Gulshan Town's union council nazims and the town municipal officer, Matanat Ali Khan.
