RAWALPINDI, Feb 9: A meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) is likely to be held on Feb 15 to discuss the overall law and order situation in the country, a security source told Dawn on Wednesday.

The meeting, which would be presided over by President Gen Pervez Musharraf, is likely to study all dimensions of the situation in Balochistan, the source added.

The interior ministry is said to have asked the provinces and the centre to submit reports on the law and order situation in their areas and on the performance of the police.

The federal capital territory administration is said to have been directed by the ministry to submit a comprehensive report on cases relating to violation of a ban on the use of loudspeakers and data on religious schools operating in Islamabad and the number of foreign students studying in them.

The ICT administration has also been asked to give details of bomb blasts, activists of banned outfits arrested and funds collection by religious organizations.

The second NSC meeting was held on Nov 25, 2004.
