LAHORE, Feb 9: The People's Party will not join any alliance for contesting forthcoming local body elections. A decision to this effect was announced after a meeting of the Lahore chapter of the party here on Wednesday.

Briefing reporters after the meeting which was presided over by Azizur Rahman Chann, Samiullah Khan, Suhail Malik and Tahir Khaleeq said turncoats would not be awarded tickets.

They said boards comprising district president and general secretary and MPs at each provincial assembly constituency level, would prepare lists of active party workers for nominations. The Lahore executive council would select final nominees from that list, they added.

About adjustments with other like-minded parties, they said any decision in this regard would be taken in individual cases.

The meeting demanded audit of all Nazims before appointment of administrators in their place so that their corruption could be detected.
