ISLAMABAD, Feb 9: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has decided to establish a high-tech telecommunication lab at Balochistan University of Information Technology and Management Sciences (BUITMS), Quetta , said an official statement on Wednesday.

In this regard, a Rs15 million scheme, submitted by the university, has been approved in the HEC's recently held Departmental Development Working Party (DDWP) meeting.

The establishment of the lab is an absolute requirement for providing the best technical education in electronic engineering, computer science, computer engineering and information technology disciplines, the statement said.

It said the scheme was an integral component of establishing and enhancing the lab facilities at BUITMS, Quetta, which has been established under commission's perspective plan 2001-2011.

BUITMS is already in process to establish electronics lab with the amount sanctioned by the HEC. This lab is fulfilling the need of undergra-duate programmes in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science and Computer Engineering.
