SUKKUR, Feb 9: AIG (finance) Hussain Asghar initiated an inquiry into a recent attack on the Yaroo Lund police station in Mirpur Mathelo on Tuesda.

He recorded statements of the SHO of the police station and other police officials and also met local journalists who apprised him of the incident.

The AIG told journalists that a multi-dimensional inquiry would be conducted to ascertain facts about the attack and statements of common men and influential people of the area would also be recorded. He asked the area people, including the Lund tribesmen, to come to him and record statements without any fear.

He said that according to information received by him, police were not involved in the killing of the Lund tribesmen, which had caused the attack. However, he added, if involvement of police officials in the killings was proved, a departmental action would be initiated against them.

Meanwhile, former state minister Sardar Khalid Ahmed Lund, in a recent meeting with the prime minister, has complained about prejudiced role of police in the area.

In a statement issued here, he said that that first police should arrest the killers of the Lund tribesmen then they would hand those allegedly involved in the attack on the police station.
