PESHAWAR: Recovery of arrears deferred by Pesco

PESHAWAR, Feb 9: The chief executive of Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) on Wednesday directed the staff of the company to set aside outstanding dues against community-based tube-well owners and charge only current bills from them in easy instalments.

Brigadier Tahir Saeed Malik issued those directives while addressing Pesco consumers, mostly farmers, in village Panjpir in Swabi district. Area MNA Muhammad Usman advocate, Nazim Swabi Gohar Rehman and Brigadier Sajjad Khan were present on the occasion.

He said the step was aimed at making the community-based tube wells functional. With regard to outstanding arrears, he said the concerned XENs would look into the issue after which further action would be taken.

He said Pesco had completed various big power projects in the province while many more were in different stages of completion. He urged the consumers to cooperate with the company in its efforts to discourage illegal use of electricity.-APP
