SARGODHA: Train derails at unmanned crossing

By Our Correspondent

SARGODHA, Feb 8: A passenger train derailed near the Charnali Railway Station on Monday night after collision with a tractor-trolley, which had blocked an unmanned level crossing.

According to reports, a Sargodha-bound train was coming from Shorkot when it derailed after dashing against a tractor-trolley near the Charnali station, about 10 kilometres from here.

Both the vehicles were damaged, but fortunately no casualty took place. Some of the passengers escaped with mere bruises.

The line was cleared about 7am on Tuesday with the help of a crane, which was brought from the Malikwal railway station. The schedules of five trains was adversely affected.

It is pertinent to mention here that about a dozen illegally established level crossings are operative in Sargodha and those, too, without any staffer.
