KARACHI: Hearing of Imambargah blast cases adjourned

KARACHI, Feb 7: An Anti-Terrorism Court in Karachi on Monday adjourned the hearing of trial against Gul Hasan, an activist of banned Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, in Imambargah Raza and Hyderi blast cases.

"The hearing was adjourned till Feb 9 due to non-appearance of prosecution witnesses," defence counsel Mushtaq Ahmed said.

Gul Hasan and other co-accused Asif Choto, Abdul Salam are charged with preparing suicide attackers for causing blasts at the Imambargahs.

CORRUPTION CASE: The hearing of a criminal revision petition filed by Hussain Haqqani, former chairman and MD of HBFC impugning an order by Special Federal Anti-Corruption Court was put off by Justice Mohammad Afzal Soomro of Sindh High Court due to paucity of time.

The applicant called into question order by FAC-II which dismissed an application filed by Mr Haqqani under section 249-A, CrPC, seeking acquittal of the accused in a corruption case.

According to prosecution, accused allowed deposition of Rs10m in Assets Investment Bank in 1996 while he was serving as chairman of HBFC. -PPI/APP
