Rally held against govt actions in Balochistan

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 6: The Jamhoori Watan Party, Sindh, on Sunday staged a protest demoat Press Club against the government's moves of establishing cantonments in Balochistan , launching of mega projects in Gwadar, and dislodging of people living in certain areas of Sui.

The participants were holding banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the moves.

The demo was, later, joined by supporters of the Sindh National Front. The rally was led by JWP Vice-President Saleem Baloch. Shahzada Zafar Jan, Dr Nawaz Inqilabi, Nawabzada M. S. Bugti, Sher Mohammad Baloch, Mir Ghulam Mohammad Baloch and Zahid Baloch were among those who addressed the rally.

They accused the government of pursuing anti-people policies. The measures it was taking in Balochistan, they said, were aimed at turning the local population into minority as outsiders were being brought to the province on a big scale. They warned the government that Baloch people would resist such anti-people policies tooth and nail.

Addressing the rally, Saleem Baloch described the prevailing situation in Sui as 'undeclared curfew' and deplored that under a calculated plan, preparation for a military operation was being made in the province. He also condemned the arrest of political activists.
