By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Feb 5: Government policies on Kashmir were criticized by the participants of a rally, organized by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, near Quaid's mausoleum.

Jamaat-i-Islami leader Syed Munawwar Hasan paid tributes to the people of Kashmir and said that they have proved that their freedom struggle could not be suppressed by bullets and that their spirit of freedom could not be crushed.

Earlier, a procession was taken out from Jail Chowrangi which passed through new MA Jinnah Road and turned into a public meeting near the Mazar.

Syed Munawwar Hasan, Maulana Abdul Rashid Turabi, Allama Hasan Turabi, Maulana Abdul Karim Abid, Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui, Hafiz Mohammad Taqi, Sardar Maqsooduz Zaman, Mohammad Hussain Mehanti, Basharat Mirza, Nasrullah Shaji and others addressed the meeting.

Jamaat-i-Islami Secretary General Syed Munawwar Hasan said that Kashmir continues to be a flash-point. He pointed out that the Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, had rejected various proposals made by President Pervez Musharraf.

The JI leader criticized the government policies of pursuing the US agenda and said in Muslim countries it was the army which had surrendered and not the people.
