KARACHI: City govt to build raised road
KARACHI, Feb 5: The City Government's effort is to construct an overhead road from Airport to Hotel Metropole on BOT basis which would also help solve the problem of traffic jams on Sharea Faisal due to movement of VIPs.
At present, there is no alternate road from Clifton, Defence and other areas to reach airport except Sharea Faisal.
This was stated by City Nazim Naimatullah Khan while talking to a seven-member Japanese delegation at Civic Centre.
The delegation was led by Taizo Kayato.
Naimatullah Khan said that search for foreign investors for the proposed overhead road is on.
He said construction of overhead roads on I.I. Chundrigar and University roads is also being examined.
He informed the delegation about the construction of city's second biggest government cardiac hospital in Federal B. Area.
Chest pain centres would also be setup to provide immediate medical aid to patients of heart attack for which machinery is being imported from abroad, he added.
The City Nazim pointed out that 15 to 20 ambulances would be required for the heart institute and chest pain centres and said Japanese companies can assist in the provision of medical facilities.
He said that talks are under way with many companies to solve the city's sewerage problem while plans are also afoot regarding road cleaning in various Towns, garbage lifting and its transportation to landfil sites. He said foreign investment in these projects will be encouraged.-APP
