ISLAMABAD, Feb 4: The Higher Education Commission's National Academy of Higher Education has started professional development programme for university and degree college faculty members.

According to HEC Director-General for Innovative Learning Dr Zarrin Siddiqui, the academy is carrying out the programme in collaboration with an Indian university, says a press release.

The courses will basically focus on incorporating technology into teaching and learning. In the first phase, nominations have been received from 17 public and private sector universities.

These also include the master trainers identified in the three- month certificate in teaching course started last year. These teachers would subsequently introduce new trends in teaching and learning, preferably in remote areas.

WHEAT FIELD DAY: Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission and Nuclear Institute of Agriculture, Tandojam, under the auspices of the HEC, have planned a "Wheat Field Day" at an experimental farm on February 8.

According to a press release, the scientists of the institute have been engaged in developing new high-yielding varieties of different crops which are being cultivated on large areas.

These organizations have been interacting with farmers to transfer latest technologies to end users. The "Wheat Field Day" will provide an opportunity to farmers to observe the performance of approved varieties of wheat, lentil and sugarcane at experimental farms.
