BAHAWALPUR, Feb 4: A three-day International Urdu Conference and a mushaira will be held here from Feb 8 to Feb 10 at the Islamia University's Ghotvi Hall. The moot is being hosted by the Writers' Foundation Pakistan.

Speaking at a press conference on Friday, foundation president Riaz Hassan and coordinator Fayyaz Lakhwera said over 20 writers, poets, journalists and research scholars from many universities abroad were participating the conference. They hailed from New Delhi, New York, Denmark, Japan, Montreal and Istanbul. The mushaira will be chaired by Munir Niazi.

MUHARRAM: The District Peace Committee at its meeting here on Friday reviewed the arrangements to maintain law and order in Muharram. Presiding over the meeting, District Nazim Tariq Cheema and DCO Imran Ahmad directed the departments concerned to ensure sanitation on the routes of Muharram processions and supply of electricity during the majalis in various parts of the district.
