KARACHI: Elderly man found murdered

KARACHI, Feb 4: An elderly man was found killed in is apartment in Jehangir Kothari Building, Pakistan Chowk, on Friday. Police said that the man, Manik Dinshaw, 68, was hit with a blunt weapon in his head by unknown assailants. His body was shifted to the Civil Hospital.

Robin Dinshaw, the victim's brother, lodged an FIR at the Preedy police station against unknown killers. The victim was single and lived alone in the apartment, police added. Police ruled out possibility of a dacoity having led to the murder as no valuables in the apartment were found missing.

JUBILATION FIRE: A young man died in jubilation firing at a wedding ceremony in Lyari late on Thursday night. Police said a stray bullet hit one of the guests, Liaquat Ali, 28, at the ceremony in Agra Taj Colony, in the limits of Kalakot police station. The victim was rushed to the Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

ACCIDENT: A 17-year-old man died and four other persons were wounded when a speeding truck (KTC-398) carrying gas cylinders overturned at Sohrab Goth on Friday.

Police identified the deceased as Khamiso Khan and the wounded as Salma, Zainab and Hidayat, all of whom were passers-by and standing on the pavement when the accident took place. In another accident, a man, Siraj, 35, was knocked down by a vehicle in Mithadar. The victim was pronounced dead at CHK.
