KARACHI: Transporters threaten to wind up business
KARACHI, Feb 3: Condemning the recent increase in diesel and petrol prices, leaders of National Transport Ittehad Karachi on Thursday asked the government to make some other arrangement for providing commuting facilities
to the masses as it had now become impossible for transporters to continue their businesses.
Chairman, Salim Khan Bangash and other leaders, in a joint statement, said that the transporters had been facing hardships owing to hike in prices of petroleum products and consequential increase in prices of daily commodities.
They were of the view that due to this hike, transporters and the masses were in trouble and the government was not paying heed to their grievances. They said they would neither observe any strike, nor demand an increase in transport fares.
They would just announce ending their businesses. Meanwhile, in a joint statement, Jamat Islami leaders said that the government had failed to check prices and to control law and order situation. -PPI
