HYDERABAD: Father asked to file complaint - Murder of woman

By Our Correspondent

HYDERABAD, Feb 2: A bench of the Sindh High Court, Hyderabad, on Wednesday directed a villager to file a direct compliant for getting an inquiry conducted into the murder of his daughter by her in-laws.

The order was passed on a petition filed by Sehno Kolhi, a resident of Dederyari, Nagarprkar, challenging an order of the sessions judge of Mirpurkhas dismissing his application seeking an inquiry into the murder.

The SHC also ordered the court where the complaint was filed to take the case without being influenced by observations of the sessions judge. Mr Kolhi had nominated seven private respondents and the SHO of the Kunri police station in his petition.

He said he had married his daughter, Atyan, to Umedo. After the marriage, his daughter complained about her in-laws' behaviour with her and informed her parents that they wanted to kill her.

The petitioner said he was informed by Hemoon and Ponio on Dec 18, 2003, that the previous day they saw that the respondents were torturing and strangling Atyan as a result of which she died.

He stated that he saw the body of his daughter in the house of Umedo with marks of violence and swelling around her neck. He said he approached the Kunri police but his FIR was not registered.

He said his application was forwarded to the Mirpurkhas DPO by the RPO, Hyderabad region, for holding an inquiry and subsequently the DPO referred it to the TPO of Samaro for investigation.

However, he regretted, no inquiry had been held in the case so far and he was being kept on false hopes. He said his criminal miscellaneous application before the sessions judge of Mirpurkhas was also dismissed.
