HYDERABAD: Official says training facilities to be improved

HYDERABAD, Feb 2: Director of the provincial manpower and training department Wali Mohammad Bhambhro has said that five schemes at a cost of Rs66.5 million are being carried out in Sindh to improve manpower training.

According to an official handout, the schemes pertained to establishment of a technical training centre for boys and another for girls in Landhi, Karachi; repair and rehabilitation of the building of the Technical Training Centre, Sukkur, and introduction of new trades there; construction of a building and provision of employment's at the TTC, Latifabad, Hyderabad; and surveys to assess efficiency of existing TTCs and viability of training's offered by them in the job market.

Moreover, a scheme of establishment of new TTCs and construction of buildings to improve existing TTCs and another for construction of a building for an employment exchange awaited approval under the annual development programme.

The handout added that 863 candidates had been guided in getting employment and 3,518 registered for employment assistance by the employment exchanges run by the directorate in December 2004. Those getting jobs through the directorate included 18 women and 844 men.
