KARACHI: Three die in accidents

KARACHI, Feb 2: Three persons died in separate accidents in different parts of the city on Wednesday. Police said that Kulsoom, 4, daughter of Noor Hussain, was plying outside her house in Korangi 100 Quarters when a speeding water tanker knocked her down.

She died on the spot. Police nabbed the errant driver, Yaqoob, and impounded the vehicle. Later, her body was shifted to JPMC for legal formalities. In a hit-and-run accident, a 14-year-old boy died near Jam Sadiq Bridge.

Police said that Zeeshan was heading towards the Korangi Industrial Area on his cycle when a speeding vehicle knocked him to death. On Sharea Faisal, a speeding car hit a pedestrian near Awami Markaz.

Police said Mohammad Pervez, 50, was crossing Sharea Faisal near Awami Markaz when he was hit by the car. The victim was rushed to JPMC, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

SNATCHED: A senior journalist and his friend were deprived of their valuables and cellular phones by three armed suspects in Defence on Wednesday. A senior staffer of Dawn Khursheed Tanveer and his friend Hasan Javed were looking for their friend's house in Khayaban-i-Saba when three suspects roaming in a white car intercepted them and deprived of cash and cell phones.
