JAMSHORO, Jan 31: President General Pervez Musharraf has said that he has asked the chief minister of Sindh to ban student politics in Sindh on the pattern of Punjab.

He was answering students' questions after addressing a select gathering at the girls' gymnasium of the Sindh University here on Monday.

The president said that tourism, sports and cultural activities were being given due importance and the government had constructed many monuments and developed recreational spots.

He said that Gwadar, Pasni and other tourist resorts in Balochistan were safe and people could easily visit them, adding that the army was there to avert any untoward incident.

He said that competition among students had increased due to opening of private educational institutions and assured that measure would be taken to ensure that they reduced fees.

He called for improvement in standard of educational institutions of public sector and said that they must update the old syllabi. He said that universities were free to send students abroad for attending seminars. The president said that action would be taken against publishers, printers and writers for publishing questionable material in books.
