ISLAMABAD, Jan 31: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) on Monday announced the results of a scholarship scheme for PhD in basic sciences, an official statement said.
The scholarship scheme is meant for teachers and researchers working in public-sector universities and research and development organizations of the country. The selected candidates will be awarded scholarships to conduct research in Chinese universities.
The test for this scheme was simultaneously held in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Quetta and Peshawar on December 26, 2004. A total of 240 candidates applied for the said scholarships, while 136 who met the eligibility criteria were called for the entry test.
Out of these 136 candidates, 115 appeared for the test. The qualified candidates will be called for interviews in the last week of March. The successful candidates will be required to prepare research proposals in advance for their PhD studies and present these to the interview panel.
They will also be required to bring their original academic and service documents at the time of the interview which would be conducted by a team of Chinese professors from the China Scholarship Council.
