ISLAMABAD, Jan 30: Parliamentarians Commission for Human Rights (PCHR) Chairman Riaz Fatyana has condemned police atrocities on the students of Commercial College Kamalia, Toba Tek Singh district, and registration of cases against them.
According to a press release issued here by the PCHR on Sunday, Mr Fatyana said this was a clear human rights violation case and the government should take prompt action against those involved in the incident.
He expressed his concern over police brutalities, their immoral behaviour and misuse of authority and termed it negation of the existing police ordinance. He said police officials misused the ordinance and under its cover humiliated, disgraced and resorted to violence against innocent people.
Therefore, the government should take immediate action and bring about changes to the ordinance. He demanded of the Punjab government to order judicial inquiry into the incident and take prompt action against the district police official Toba Tek Singh, district superintendent of police, Kamalia and the SHO.
