HYDERABAD, Jan 30: A massive security cover was put into place on Sunday in different areas of the city and in Jamshoro where President Gen Pervez Musharraf is scheduled to attend two separate programmes on Monday.
The president is scheduled to inaugurate the Jamshoro Joint Venture Limited before going to Jamshoro to perform the inaugural ceremony of a hi-tech laboratory at the University of Sindh.
He will then leave for Beto Jatoi, the native village of federal Water and Power Minister Liaquat Ali Jatoi, where he will stay for the night. He will also address a public meeting there. The president would be taken to the venues in a helicopter.
The venues of the two events have been taken over by the army while Rangers and police personnel are also supplementing the army in security measures in inner and outer cordons. A police source said residents of Deh Shah Bukhari, where the JJVL was located, would not be allowed to enter or leave the area.
Our Dadu Correspondent adds: Federal Minister Liaquat Jatoi, Sindh chief secretary, PPO and senior army officers at the Beto Jatoi rest house on Sunday discussed security measures taken for the president's visit.
Earlier, the chief secretary and the PPO visited the venue of the public meeting. Around 200 army commandos and 2,000 policemen have been deployed in the village. Security on the Indus Highway has also been tightened.
