SIALKOT, Jan 29: Supply of drinking water remained suspended for the second consecutive day on Saturday in the city's almost all the congested residential and commercial localities , as the Gepco has severed the connections of the Tehsil Municipal Administration's tubewells due to non-payment of dues.

Residents of the areas faced a great deal of difficulty due to unavailability of potable water.

Sialkot Tehsil Nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema, however, told journalists that Gepco was continuously issuing inflated electricity bills to the TMA, which stopped the payment of those. He said the company instead of rectifying bills had disconnected supply of the TMA's tubewells.

The municipal authorities, he said, were making efforts for the early restoration of drinking water supply to the city by getting re-connections for the tubewells.
