MUZAFFARABAD, Jan 28: The AJK cabinet on Thursday approved establishment of a middle standard examination board for the students of government and private educational institutions with a view to enforce a uniform procedure of examinations and improve the quality of education across the state.

It also decided that the next AJK polls, due in mid 2006, would be held on the basis of existing electoral rolls instead of new lists.

This decision is in contradiction with the announcement of AJK Chief Election Commissioner Syed Manzoor Hussain Gillani earlier this month that new electoral lists would be prepared for the next polls. The cabinet directed police and administration officials to maintain law and order in the state, especially in Muharram.

TSUNAMI FUND: The AJK government has also decided to donate one day's salary of its officials to the Pakistan president's relief fund for the victims of tsunami in India.
