MANSEHRA, Jan 28: Torrential rain and snowfall in hilly areas of Mansehra continued for the third consecutive day on Friday which brought mercury to the freezing point, adding more chill to the weather.

In Mansehra town, the supply of gas was suspended in the early hours, compounding the residents' difficulties. The supply had not been restored till the filing of this report.

On Thursday, despite snowfall and severe cold, the gas supply to the town was restored at 10pm. People were seen making queues in front of the coal and kerosene oil depots. The mushroom growth of CNG stations in the area is cited as the main cause of low gas pressure.

The town recorded six inches of snow on Thursday which had kept falling from 2pm to 7pm. The Kaghan Valley received four to five feet of snow while the Battal and Chattar Plain areas of Konsh Valley recorded three to four feet of snow.

In Jabouri, Jabbar Devli and Jacha Manda Gucha areas of Bhogarmang valley, the snowfall was recorded at between four and five feet. In most parts of the Konsh and Bhogarmang valleys, people have been forced to stay indoors, with bazaars wearing a deserted look.
