PESHAWAR, Jan 27: The Pakistan People's Party has criticized a statement by the Balochistan chief minister in which he alleged that Iran was fuelling unrest in his province.

Talking to Dawn on Thursday, PPP's provincial senior vice-president Syed Qamar Abbas accused Chief Minister Jam Mohammad Yousuf of toeing the US line by implicating Iran into a crisis triggered by the ill-conceived policies of the federal government as well as his own administration.

"Pakistan does not need any external enemy if the country has decision-makers like Jam Yousuf," the Pakistan People's Party leader said, wondering why Islamabad was still silent over an 'irresponsible statement' made by the chief minister.

Referring to the Sui situation, he said the Pakistan People's Party was opposed to any military action in Balochistan or any other part of the country and asked the government to resolve the issue by holding talks with Baloch leaders.
