RAWALPINDI, Jan 27: Civil Judge Amjad Iqbal here on Thursday issued arrest warrants for 18 activists of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) for their failure to appear before the court
in a case relating to their alleged involvement in creating disturbance on the occasion of party president Shahbaz Sharif's arrival in the country.
Those who were issued the warrants included Farooque Khattak, Shakeel Anwar Butt, Babar Awan, Azhar Shaikh, Mohammad Shafique, Zahid, Aqeel Shaukat, Abdul Rauf Khan, Zafar Iqbal, Malik Nadeem, Malik Muzammil, Imtiaz, Iqbal, Sardar Naseem, Sharifuddin, Shakeel Awan, Mansoor Baig and Raza Khan.
The court directed the police to produce the accused before it on April 4. Co-accused Maqbool Ahmad Khan and Tanveer Ahmad Shaikh were, however, present in the court.
Meanwhile, Additional District and Sessions Judge Mian Mohammad Shafi awarded life imprisonment to Mohammad Akram in a murder case. Akram was charged with killing Yasir in the jurisdiction of Kotli Sattian police.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Chaudhry Imtiaz awarded life-term to Khurshid in a murder case. A fine of Rs50,000 was also imposed on the convict. The same court awarded one-year rigorous imprisonment to co-accused, Sher, and imposed Rs5,000 fine on him. Both the convicts were facing charges related to the murder of Rafaqat in the jurisdiction of Wah Cantonment police.
