FAISALABAD, Jan 27: A meeting was held at the circuit house on Thursday to review measures taken for maintaining law and order during Muharram.

Speaking to the participants, the general commanding officer, Maj-Gen Shahid Iqbal, warned that no one would be allowed to create law and order problem during the month.

He said effective security steps would be taken so that Muslims could pay tribute to the martyrs of Karbala in peaceful environment. He urged religious scholars belonging to different schools of thought to play their due role in promoting fraternity, tolerance and religious harmony from the platform of the District Peace Committee.

DIG Chaudhry Sajjad said foolproof security measures had been adopted by the police in Faisalabad, Jhang and Toba Tek Singh to prevent any untoward incident. DPO Amin Waince shed light on the "Muharram Plan" with the help of slides and charts.

He said a central control room would be set up during the month where representatives of all departments concerned would perform duties round the clock. Besides the district-level committee, peace bodies had also been constituted at tehsils and police stations.
