TOBA TEK SINGH, Jan 27: Conflict between the groups of District Nazim Chaudhry Muhammad Ashfaq and Kamalia MNA Riaz Fatyana aggravated on Thursday when the Fatyana group students blocked Kamalia-Chichawatni Road to prevent him from inaugurating a college already did so by the MNA.

The classes in the Government Commercial College have already been commenced some one-and-a-half-month ago. Students of the Government Premsati College blocked the road for more than an hour.

Four students sustained injuries when police resorted to baton-charge to clear the road so that the convoy of the District Nazim could pass through. The District Nazim claimed that he was invited by the college management for the inauguration and the demonstration by the Fatyana group was unjustified.

A source said that Fatyana group chief Chaudhry Zahoorul Haq had informed the Kamalia DSP and City police that they would protest if the District Nazim came to inaugurate the college.

Punjab Social Welfare Minister Begum Ashfa Riaz Fatyana, who was present at her hometown Kamalia, told this correspondent by phone that she or Riaz Fatyana had nothing to do with such demonstrations.

However, she said that it was evidently a public reaction to stop the District Nazim from inaugurating an already functioning institute. Ruling party MNA Riaz Fatyana is accompanying Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz in Belgium these days.
