KARACHI: 'Ilmathon 2005' on Sunday

KARACHI, Jan 27: A half-day fun filled activity 'Ilmathon 2005' is being organized by The Citizens Foundation at the Defence Housing Authority, Phase VIII, on Sunday.

The event comprises a six-kilometre walk from 'The Area 51' to the Golf Course. In around half-way during the walk, a family festival featuring stalls for children's games, snacks and food, etc., has also being organized.

This is the second festival of its series organized by the TCF. The previous event, held last year, earned the TCF about Rs9 million generated through the entry fee and sponsorships.

The income from the events is utilized in running the affairs of the foundation which provides quality education at over 180 schools operating under its network. More than 22,000 under-privileged children in different area across the country benefit from the schools offering quality education at subsidized cost.

Eighty-five per cent of the expenses, pertaining to uniforms, books, staff salaries, laboratory consumables, utilities, etc, are borne by communities within the country and expatriate Pakistanis. The amount comes to more than Rs100 million.
