ISLAMABAD, Jan 26: The Jammu Kashmir Milli Tehrik (JKMT) and All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) on Wednesday observed the Indian republic day as black day.

Speaking to the participants of a protest rally here in front of the United Nations office, head of JKMT Prof Peer Ali Raza Bukhari urged the international community and the UN to pressure India to put an end to its illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

The worst kind of human rights violations, he said, was being committed by the Indian occupation forces in the held valley under the very nose of democratic forces of the world.

A large number of people participated in the rally. They had tied black ribbons around their arms and were holding banners and placards inscribed with anti-India slogans. Mr Bukhari also presented a memorandum in the name of UN Secretary General Kofi Annan to the UN authorities here.
