LAYYAH, Jan 26: The Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) has failed to remove encroachments from various roads, markets and bazaars of the city. The worst affected areas are Saddar bazaar, Choubara, Lully Laal and Kutchery Road.

Traffic remains jam in these areas due to encroachments. Traders used to display their merchandise on footpaths of Choubara Road and Saddar bazaar making it difficult for pedestrians to walk.

MMA STRUGGLE: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) will continue its protest movement till President Gen Pervez Musharraf leaves his military office. This was told to this correspondent by Chaudhry Asghar Ali Gujjar, parliamentary leader of the MMA in the Punjab Assembly here on Tuesday.

"The MMA will force the president to take off his uniform." He said the MMA believed in the politics of principle and was against the government's policies. "The MMA wants supremacy of the constitution and will not accept military supremacy over the parliament."

Mr Gujjar ridiculed the government claim that the MMA's anti-Musharraf drive has failed to mobilize the masses against the president. He said the MMA would continue fighting inside and outside parliament. "We will resist American intervention in Pakistan's affairs," he added.
