Jr camp starts today
By Our Sports Correspondent
LAHORE, Jan 24: Forty probables, out of total 56, had reported for the national junior training camp starting at the National Hockey Stadium from Tuesday to prepare Pakistan team for the forthcoming World Cup
to be held in Netherlands from June 30 to July 10.
Assistant coach Khawaja Junaid said that coach Tahir Zaman would reach Lahore on Tuesday to start the camp training. Tahir reached Faisalabad after attending the burial ceremony of his sister in London. Junaid said that Kamran Ashraf (PIA) and Mansoor Ahmed (Wapda) had also been called to assist them (Junaid and Tahir).
"With the addition of Kamran and Mansoor we will be able to give more attention to the coaching of the players," Junaid said. He said that now the trials to reduce the list of probables would not be held on Jan 29 and 30.
"After the postponement of the series against India from the month of February to April, we have enough time to give maximum exposure to all the probables before finalising a team," he said.
He said that the fresh date to reduce the list would be decided later. "I will meet the PHF secretary tomorrow to have detail discussion over all the aspects," he said. He said that according to the schedule prepared for the training, two sessions would be held daily and there would be a rest after every three-day.
