PML drive from Feb 4

LAHORE, Jan 24: A membership campaign for organizing the PML at the ward level will start from Feb 4. Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi, who is also the provincial president of the party , stated this while presiding over a meeting held on Monday to discuss the arrangements for the local government elections and organizational matters of the party.

He said PML president Chaudhry Shujaat Husain would inaugurate the campaign at the federal level and the provincial presidents at the provincial level. Mr Elahi said the organization at the lower level would help ensure the success of its candidates in the elections.

He stressed the need for increasing direct contact with the people and translating the programmes for public welfare and social justice into reality for making the new membership process effective and successful.

He said a concrete strategy had been evolved for bringing the district governments system in conformity with the aspirations of the people and making it more effective. Efforts would have to be made for the election of the honest people desirous of serving the people.

Punjab PML secretary general and Communication and Works Minister Chaudhry Zaheeruddin Khan and Senator Kamil Ali Agha briefed the chief minister on the arrangements for the campaign.
