ISLAMABAD, Jan 24: Unicef will work with renewed commitment and vigour for the betterment of children in Pakistan under the leadership of its new Executive Director Ann M. Veneman.
This was stated by Omar A. Abidi, the Unicef representative in Pakistan, after announcement that Ms Veneman would replace Carol Bellamy as the Unicef chief in May.
Ms Veneman, the outgoing secretary of agriculture in the US administration, was on Tuesday appointed by UN Secretary- General Kofi Annan to succeed Ms Bellamy after her ten-year term concluded on April 30.
