KARACHI: Sewerage schemes inspected

KARACHI, Jan 24: Sindh Planning and Development Ministre Shoaib Ahmed Bukhari on Monday visited the sewerage schemes being implemented in Liaquatabad, North Nazimabad and North Karachi Towns under the MPAs' priority programme.

During the visit, he was accompanied by MPA Mohammed Idrees Siddiqi, Superintending Engineer Mohammed Arif and XENs Laeeq Hussain and Mahmood Hussain.

Talking to people on the occasion, Mr Bukhari said the government had allocated Rs1,440 million under ADP, 2004-05, without any discrimination for all MPAs. Of this amount, development schemes worth Rs600 million could not be implemented during 2003-04 or these were not submitted, he added.

The minister said that most of the MPAs preferred sewerage schemes for their areas, keeping in view the bad sewerage conditions in the city. He lauded the officials concerned for implementing sewerage schemes with professional skill, which would rid people of sewerage-related problems. - APP
