KARACHI: Tariq orders completion of flyoverin time
KARACHI, Jan 24: Acting City Nazim Tariq Hasan, taking strict notice of delay in the completion of Shahrah-i-Quaideen Flyover, directed the departments concerned to immediately remove the impediments in the way of construction work
, besides ensuring quality.
He was reviewing progress on various ongoing development projects initiated under the Tameer-i-Karachi programme at a meeting held in his office on Monday. He also called for initiating efforts to begin construction of FTC underpass.
He told the meeting that the city government was working on a plan to make Sharea Faisal signal-free, adding that with the implementation of Tameer-i-Karachi programme, the metropolis was fast heading towards becoming a model city.
The meeting was attended by EDO Works Sarfraz Ali Shah, EDO Finance Shakil Naqvi, project manager, Shahrah-i-Quaideen, Ghulam Ahmed Saro, city nazim's adviser Abid Ilyas, besides officials of NESPAK.
EDO works informed the meeting that 81 per cent work on the flyover had been completed, while work was in progress to complete the remaining approach roads. Tariq Hasan directed the Works and Finance departments to improve the quality, remove the impediments and complete the flyover at the earliest to facilitate the people.
He ordered an action plan, to be formed with the cooperation of traffic police, to ensure smooth traffic movement at the construction sites. The meeting was informed that speedy construction work was going on on one track of the road from Lasbella to Nazimabad, while traffic had been diverted to the second track.
The meeting was also apprised of work on Jehangir Road and other schemes under Taameer-i-Karachi package. Mr Hasan directed that more staff be deployed on the schemes where progress was slow, to ensure their early completion.
KARSAZ ROAD: Sindh chief minister's advisor on Local Government Waseem Akhtar inspected on Monday the ongoing work on 2.3Km Karsaz Road being reconstructed at a cost of Rs.45 million.
The engineers concerned on the occasion informed the advisor that 50 per cent of the road had been completed, and it would be opened for the public on the night of Jan 25, an official handout said. -APP/PPI
