BADIN: Fishermen's problems to be solved - Minister

By Our Correspondent

BADIN, Jan 24: Sindh Minister for Population Welfare Syed Ali Bux Shah has said that longstanding demands of fishermen of the coastal area will be solved in a meeting on Friday.

Speaking at Meet the Press Programme here on Sunday, the minister said he had held a meeting with the Mallah community and members of the fish committee in Badin. He said it was agreed in the meeting that fishing contracts and fifty per cent of catch would be given to fishermen.

He said the fishermen could easily get their rights if the issue was not politicized by some selfish elements. The minister said some political activists were sabotaging the interests of fishermen.

He urged workers of the Pakistan Muslim League to identify problems of people and solve them. Mr Shah said he had always been in forefront to serve people and would continue the mission without any discrimination.

He said the masses were the real masters of all state and public institutions and government employees were their servants. He said if officials failed to solve people's problems action would be taken against them.

He said he and Senator Yasmeen Shah would sit in their Badin office for two days on alternative days during week and would hear grievances of the people on his official phones in Karachi. He urged party workers to keep an eye on conspiracies being hatched to create differences within the party by circulating false reports.
