Woods catches Lehman for a share of lead

LA JOLLA, Jan 23: Tiger Woods caught US Ryder Cup captain Tom Lehman for a share of the lead at 14-under just before darkness halted play on Saturday in the third round of the 4.5 million-dollar Buick Invitational.

After Friday's second round was suspended by darkness after a lengthy fog delay, weather again was a factor Saturday. On Friday Woods was on the 18th tee when play was halted for the day. He started his day Saturday by making his fourth birdie in his last five holes for a nine-under 63.

Then came another fog delay, after which he birdied the first two holes of the third round. After play was halted for the day, Woods putted out for par on 14, his fifth hole, while Lehman chose to finish the 14th.

Lehman lost the lead he had held through 38 hles with a bogey on his third hole, the 12th. While Lehman's 19 birdies in the first two rounds seemed to signal a chance that he could end his victory drought, Lehman said such thinking would be counterproductive.
