Rasiak sinks West Ham

LONDON, Jan 23: Derby County moved into contention for the promotion playoffs with a 2-1 victory at West Ham United on Sunday. Polish striker Gregorz Rasiak scored early in each half to hand Derby the points and move them into eighth place in the second division standings above West Ham on goal difference.

West Ham equalised through Carl Fletcher but left the field to boos after their season's 11th defeat. Ipswich Town and Wigan Athletic occupy the automatic promotion places with 59 and 57 points respectively.

Sunderland, third on 56, Reading, Sheffield United and Preston North End occupy the four playoff positions.
